The time has finally come to potty train my youngest! I am over the moon at the thought of not having to change diapers anymore, especially when I remind myself that I have been changing diapers every single day for the last 4 years!!! 😣 Only having one in diapers in the moment is much better than two, but no diapers EVER again makes me giddy! Don’t get me wrong, I love babies, but I am done. After four babies, and thousands of diaper changes I am ready for the finer things in life!
On Sunday we broke out the Pull Ups, M&Ms, the potty chair, and the beloved Potty Watch (if you are going to be potty training anytime in the near future, and don’t have one of these babies I would highly recommend you get one ASAP!) and got down to business! I know that there are a million and one different ideas on how to potty train kids, but at our house we make a trip to the potty EVERY 30 minutes, sing a few songs while they try to pee, and do a little dance when they actually go. There are even a few M&Ms as a reward every time they go! It’s a big deal around here, and while I am super excited for the end game, the whole process is really putting a damper on getting anything accomplished. I try to stay at home for the first week, until they can get the hang of running to the potty, but this time around home is the last place I want to be. I am also planning my day in the 30 minutes in between each bathroom break. How much can you accomplish in 30 minutes increments? This morning I wanted to run, and had to stop halfway through to take him to the bathroom. Yoga? Not if the video is more than 27 minutes long.
For now I will keep reminding myself that our days in diapers are numbered, and that this too shall pass. To all of you potty training mommas out there, YOU CAN DO THIS! Give yourself an M&M as a reward too, you deserve it!
